History

Architect Mimar Sinan built the first public bath house (Hamam Cemberlitas) in Istanbul for Nur Banu Sultan (mother of Murat III) already in 1584. Thansk to the rigorous cleanliness dictate of the islam, hamams were very popular. Hence they evolved to social meeting points and developed a body culture.
